Respect & Safety
We want every client, dog, and trainer to feel safe and comfortable during training sessions. Creating a respectful environment is an important part of the work we do together.
If at any point you feel unsafe or uncomfortable during a session for any reason, please let the trainer know immediately. The session will be paused so we can address the situation.
We welcome clients of all backgrounds and identities. Discrimination, harassment, or behaviour rooted in racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, or any other form of discrimination will not be tolerated.
Physical or verbal abuse toward any participant in the session, including the dog, will result in the immediate termination of the session.
Vaccinations
The health and safety of our clients, their dogs, and our trainer are important priorities. To help reduce the risk of infectious disease, all dogs participating in training services must be up to date on core vaccinations, including rabies, appropriate for their age, health status, and lifestyle, as recommended by their veterinarian.
Proof of vaccination may be requested prior to the start of services.
We understand that some dogs may be unable to receive certain vaccinations due to age, medical conditions, previous vaccine reactions, or a veterinarian's recommendation. If this applies to your dog, please contact us before booking or attending a session. We will review the circumstances and, where possible, discuss reasonable accommodations that support the safety and wellbeing of all participants.
How to Dog reserves the right to decline, postpone, or modify services if vaccination status or health concerns present an unreasonable risk to other dogs, clients, or the trainer.
Cancellation & Rescheduling
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide as much notice as possible.
We ask for a minimum of 6 hours notice so the appointment time can be offered to another client. Cancellation fees or forfeited sessions may apply because appointment times are reserved specifically for you and your dog.
We understand that emergencies, illness, or weather conditions can arise unexpectedly. If this applies to your circumstances, please reach out so we can give the situation personal attention.
Intro Call
While this is a free service, repeated rescheduling, particularly with less than 6 hours notice, may limit future bookings. After two missed appointments without notice, additional intro call bookings will no longer be accepted.
Consultations
Consultations cancelled with less than 6 hours notice, or missed without notice, may be subject to a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the consultation cost. Cancellation fees must be paid before the consultation can be rebooked.
Training Sessions & Packages
Training sessions cancelled with less than 6 hours notice, or missed without notice, may result in the forfeiture of that session from the purchased package.
Late Arrivals
If you are running late, please let us know as soon as possible.
Appointments may need to be shortened in order to accommodate clients scheduled afterward. Sessions shortened due to a late arrival will still count as a full session and will be deducted from the purchased package.
If the client has not arrived or remains unavailable 20 minutes after the scheduled start time, the session will be considered a missed appointment and may be treated as a cancellation without notice.
Winter Weather Policy
Living in New Brunswick, weather conditions can sometimes make travel unsafe and sessions may need to be rescheduled.
Safety is always the priority.
If a session is cancelled due
to weather, you will be notified
as soon as possible and the
appointment will be
rescheduled at no additional
cost.
We encourage you to take
the opportunity to spend
some quality time with your
dog! Do some enrichment activities, practice training skills at home, or take the time to play in the snow!
